Associate of Science in Veterinary Health Science

The AS in VHS is designed especially for the student that wishes to pursue application to an AVMA accredited veterinary college. After completion of the AS degree, a student will have fulfilled major requirements for application to veterinary college. This program offers students limited veterinary experience and education using lectures and labs with animal models and cadavers.

Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Health Science

The BS in VHS is designed to prepare graduates to apply to veterinary colleges as well as to gain employment in pharmaceutical sales, animal health management, government agencies, national organization, and education, in addition to applying to graduate school in fields of animal science, public health or other biological sciences. The BS degree offers students greater opportunities for hands-on learning experiences with live animals.

Admission Requirements

The VHS Program utilizes a rolling application and admission cycle.  Prospective students are encouraged to submit application materials as early as possible.  In order to be accepted into the Veterinary Health Science Program, students must complete the following application items:

 

  • Admission into Lincoln Memorial University. 
  • Application to the VHS Program (AS or BS)
  • Submission of 2 letters of recommendation
  • Submission of personal statement of professional goals

 

Please note that application to the VHS Program is separate from the application submitted to Lincoln Memorial University.  Students must complete both applications.  All VHS application materials are provided in the links below.  All VHS application materials should be submitted to to the Veterinary Health Science Program, not the University Admissions office.

 

 

Additionally, students must meet the following academic requirements.

  • ACT composite score of 22 with a math score of 19 OR
  • SAT critical reading & math composite score of 1030 or SAT critical reading, math & writing score of 1530
  • High School GPA of 3.0; transfer GPA of 3.2

 

Students that do not meet both ACT/SAT and GPA requirements will be advised on an individual basis by the VHS Program Coordinator.
