The Lincoln Memorial University DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM) is pleased to announce the approval by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to move forward with a new Doctor of Medical Science Degree. The goal of this program is to provide advanced medical education to Physician Assistants.
The first cohort of students will begin the program in the fall of 2016. The program is a 50 credit advanced clinical doctoral degree designed for experienced physician assistants. The first year of the program is composed of online didactics taught by medical subspecialists and PhD faculty. The second year includes online didactics specific to the chosen track taught by experts in that field. Throughout the two years of the program, students will achieve defined clinical competencies in their clinical practice. Those who choose the education track will replace the clinical competencies with courses taught by the LMU Carter and Moyers doctor of Education Program.
Upon completion, the Physician Assistant will have an additional set of advanced clinical and/or educational skills to bring to the healthcare team.
