Institute for Collaborative Leadership

The Institute provides various instructional paths for individuals seeking an enlarged professional capacity in organizational leadership.

The Doctor of Education (EdD) is open to working professionals with post-baccalaureate degrees in any discipline. The program is specifically designed for professionals pursuing executive positions in business, education, healthcare, non-profits, government and related fields. The degree offers concentrations in Executive Leadership, Human Resource Development and Higher Education.

The Master's of Education in Conflict Management is a 33-credit-hour program with a 15-credit-hour concentration in conflict management, designed for individuals seeking to apply conflict resolution theory and collaborative leadership skills in their professional field. This non-licensure degree is ideal for professionals in educational and social service agencies, non-profits, as well as other public and private sector organizations. Graduates of this program are eligible for listing as a Rule 31 Mediator with the Tennessee Alternative Dispute Resolution Commission.

The Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Criminal Justice is designed for persons seeking a career in the expanding fields of law enforcement, court administration, corrections, probation and parole, or the private security industry. The degree provides two tracks – one for students with little or no previous college and one for students with an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice.

The Graduate Certificate Program is designed for those individuals currently without an advanced degree but who nevertheless wish to expand their conflict management skills through an institute of higher education. Under this option courses may be taken for graduate credit, and the hours may be applied to the master's degree if the student later wishes to pursue that option. Alternatively, the program may be taken without award of graduate credit hours. Under either option, after completion of the program, the student is awarded a certificate in conflict management from the Institute.

The Government Relations and Advocacy (GRA) Program will provide early stage lobbyists and government relations professionals with critical skills to advance and succeed with their firms and clients at the federal, state and local levels. The blended 14-credit hour GRA Program will be delivered through a combination of 3-4 day intensive classroom workshops and online classes. The part-time certificate program can be completed in one or two years depending on pace and includes an intensive three-and-a-half day lobbying boot camps, three online courses and simulated advocacy clinical workshops with real-world lobbying situations.
