What is myLMU?
myLMU is the LMU faculty, student, and staff web portal. By logging into myLMU, you can check your email, view your Outlook calendar, access Blackboard, view University announcements and news, retrieve important documents, view your teaching schedule and more.

How do I access myLMU?
myLMU is located on the top right of the LMU homepage ( Click the myLMU link and enter your Username and Password.

What is my Username and Password?
Contact the LMU Information Systems Helpdesk at 423.869.7411 (extension 7411 on-campus) or to obtain your username and password.

What is Blackboard?
Blackboard is the web-based learning management system used at LMU. Blackboard provides a mechanism to share course resources, receive student assignments, record grades, communicate with learners, and much more. Contact us for information.

What is My Site?
My Site is your personal page within myLMU. This page provides a central location to manage and store your documents, content, links, and contacts. My Site provides you with a single location to manage all of the documents, content, and tasks. You can also present content and documents to other people, create your own workspaces, provide information about yourself to other people, and learn about the status of your colleagues.

What is Turnitin and how do I use it?
Turnitin is both a stand-alone website and a Blackboard integrated application for plagiarism prevention and detection. Turnitin checks submitted papers again 20+ billion web pages, 220+ million student papers, and library databases and publications. The Turnitin “Originality Report” shows how much of the student’s paper matches content in the Turnitin databases and allows instructors to easily see how much of the paper is unoriginal.

For training on the Blackboard Turnitin integration, contact the CTLE at 423.869.6286. For assistance with the Turnitin website and using Turnitin with SEWS, contact the Information Literacy Librarian at 423.869.6327.

How can I receive technology training?

There are four ways to receive training.

1. Contact the Instructional Technologist at 423.869.6268 or the Director of Online Learning at 423.869.6827 to schedule a one-on-one training session tailored to your individual needs.

2. Stop by the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE) in the BUS/ED Building Room 118 during regular business hours to ask questions or receive impromptu mini-training on instructional technologies.

3. View the tutorials found on the CTLE website for training videos, handouts, and guidebooks.

4. Watch MyLMU announcements to sign up for upcoming group training sessions.

What is the difference between an online, blended, web-enhanced, or traditional course?

All four types of courses are offered at LMU. The definition of each course type is as follows:

Online Course
• 100% of course content, instruction, and assessment delivered online.
• No face-to-face meetings are required.

Blended or Hybrid Course
• 1 or more face-to-face class meetings replaced with online content, instruction, or assessment.
• Blends both online and face-to-face delivery.

Web-Enhanced Course
• The majority of course content, instruction, and assessment delivered face-to-face.
• 0 face-to-face class meetings are replaced with online instruction or assessment.
• Utilizes basic Blackboard features:
• Posting course syllabus and online Gradebook AND utilizes 1 or more additional Blackboard features:
• Resources, Assignment Dropbox, Learning Units, Surveys, Tests, Groups, Wiki, Discussion, Chat

Traditional Course
• 100% of course content, instruction, and assessment delivered face-to-face.
• 0 face-to-face class meetings are replaced with online instruction or assessment.
• Utilizes only basic Blackboard features such as posting of course syllabus and grade book
